Solution

There are treatments today that may help the symptoms of genetic diseases. However, to this day there is no cure. My solution to this problem is a minibot.  This minibot will be injected into the body via injection, IV or through a pill. This mini bot will be able to alter/ change the damaged genes.

A solution to our everyday problem of disease. The minibot will be able to care for the problem of altered/missing/extra genes. This is a simple procedure that will not have any surgery or drugs required. Technology is advancing and this is another addition to its advancement. This minibot will be able to detect problems with the patient's genes. However, this will not have the cure in seconds but in days, the minibot will have to take its time  

cons

There is never a 100% effective medication. This minibot could not work for everyone. This minibot could go wrong in ways not thought possible. For example, there is a possibility that the immune system could destroy it completely. As well as the possibility in which the body rejects it. However, these are things that could be fixed with other medications to prevent this from happening. Not all genetic diseases will be able to be cured this way. Only a specific amount of genetic disease will be able to have their genes altered. 

How it is treated today?

Today to treat genetic diseases gene therapy is used. For most diseases, it can depend on which medication or surgery they need. There are varying kinds of diseases that affect different parts of the body. There is no one kind of treatment for genetic diseases. However, that has been the most used in Gene Therapy. Gene Therapy is an inserted gene into the cell. The patient's cells could also be removed and altered in a lab and then injected back into the body. 

 

My treatment will be able to replace a mutated gene with a healthy gene. Whichever chromosome is defected, this minibot will be able to detect it. Knowing what is missing and what has been altered. With this information, it will either create the needed chromosome or destroy the  extra chromosome. 

Diseases that can be treated with the minibot

Just like with gene therapy the genetic diseases that could be treated with this minibot include Cystic Fibrosis, Sickle cell anemia, Hemophilia, Severe combined immunodeficiency, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Huntingtons disease, Parkinson's Hypercholesterolemia, chronic granulomatous disease, Fanconi Anemia, and Gaucher Disease.
